Where is your "Tent of Meeting"...?

Reading in Exodus 33:7-9 "Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp some distance away, calling it the 'tent of meeting.' Anyone inquiring of the Lord would go to the tent of meeting outside the camp. And whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose and stood at the entrances to their tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent. As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the Lord spoke with Moses."

Today, I find myself trying to imagine Moses, having been called by God to lead His people to the promised land and the awesome and tiring challenges, which he faced each day. Moses did indeed 'need to get away', as we sometimes hear advertised. He needed to hear from God often and privately, without interruption!

The same is true for each of us. Although the times have changed, the pressures and fast pace of our lives tend to separate us from God...at a time when we need Him most. You could call getting away to your quiet place with God going to your 'Tent of Meeting'...that one place where God meets with you, gives you His peace, and directs your path today.

For me, this scene is just one of the more ideal places where we can seek God's presence. But the good news for us is that God will meet with us no matter where we are when we call out to Him from our 'Tent of Meeting'. Let each of us draw close to Him today.
