A Gentle and Quiet Spirit...

Peter gives advice to wives and husbands in chapter 3, which I believe applies to both equally. Although he talks about submission of the wife, he also emphasizes being considerate with our wives and treating them with respect and as heirs with us of the gracious gift of life so that nothing will hinder our prayers. There is something beautiful in how he describes how the non-believing husband can be won over by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of their lives.

He goes on to describe the wives' unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. I think there is a very feminine and pretty aspect of this for a woman. However, I equally see a very masculine aspect of inner beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit for a man, when he lives the important role of a Christian father and husband to his wife and children.

We don't always get it right, but with God's help, we can experience a glimpse of the beauty, which God's Gentle and Quiet Spirit in us can create. I thank God for His inspired words through Peter's writing. Praise God.
