Faith in Action Speaks even in death...

Hebrews 11 spoke to me in such a powerful way this morning. We read about Abel, who exhibited his faith in God by sacrificing fat portions from some firstborn of his flock, and how, even though killed by Cain, (v4) 'by faith he still spoke even though he is dead.'

The writer of Hebrews speaks of numerous people who died in faith, that is 'being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.' (v13) They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance'. (v16) Instead, they were longing for a better country - a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. (v40) God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.'

I think of God's greatest commandment...to Love one another as we love ourselves. God loves us through the obedient, loving actions of other believers, who pour their lives into us. These selfless acts speak in our memories long after they have died and gone home with God. What a testimony! What a wonderful thing it will be when we all are reunited in our heavenly country, praising our living God for eternity!
Praise God!
